Billy Gene Drake
Mr. Billy Gene Drake, 70, of 1510 Hampton Road died Friday, February 20th, 2009 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Mr. Drake was born in Inman on November 6, 1938, the son of the late Paul Maxwell and Hattie B. Turner Drake and was he the husband of Christine Ford Drake. He was a member of Little Mountain Baptist Church and was an avid fisherman. In addition to his wife, other survivors include two sons, Randy Drake and his wife Susan of Inman, Tony Drake and his wife Donna of Inman, a daughter, Shannon Atkins and her husband Timmy of Lyman, four sisters, Mary Anner Brown of Inman, Geraldine Ford and her husband Daniel of Campobello, Janie Lou Dempsey and her husband Marion of Inman, Shirley Blackwell and her husband Sam of Lyman, a brother, Jerry Drake and his wife Doris of Duncan, five grandchildren, Starr, Dustin, and Brad Drake, Brittney and Drake Atkins, his special god-grandchild, Hope Blackwell, and his two grand-dogs, Toby and Tinkerbell.
Funeral services will be held at Little Mountain Baptist Church at 2:30 PM Sunday, February 22, 2009 with Rev. Josh Phillips and Rev. Ansel Norris officiating. The family is at the home of a son, Randy Drake at 822 Shadow Creek Drive and will receive mends 1:30 until 2:30 at the church and following the funeral service at the of his son Randy. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family wishes to thank the staff at Camp Care Nursing Home for their care and support shown to them and Mr. Drake. Memorial contributions may be made to Little Mountain Baptist Church 1302 Little Mtn. Road Wellford, SC 29385.
