Died 10:35 a.m. Thursday, May 24, 1990, at Riverview Medical Center, Gonzales. She was 71, a native of Satsuma and a resident of Prairieville. Religious services were held at Hollabaugh-Spindle Wooddale Memorial Chapel at 10 a.m. Saturday, conducted by the Rev. Mack Strange and the Rev. Timothy Buford. Interment in Palmetto Cemetery, Walker.
Survived by three daughters, Mary Katherine VanOsdell Lewis, Dillard, Ga., Joyce VanOsdell McManus, Prairieville, and Janis K. VanOsdell Brown, Stonewall, Texas; two sons, Donald Ray VanOsdell, Sorrento, and Edward J. VanOsdell Sr., Denham Springs; three sisters, Effie Sutton, Denham Springs, Viola Flavell, Brownfields, and Eunice Bourke, Baton Rouge; a half-sister, Dee Bowman, Florida; a brother, Calvin Rushing, Baker; five stepchildren, Ann Posey, Livingston, Doris Smith, Manchac, Richard Rushing, Lawton, Okla., Josephine Ballard and A.J. Rushing, both of Livingston; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by husband, Alex Rushing; two brothers, and a half-brother.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
