Joe Edgar, 75, of Florence passed away on June 2, 2018.
A Visitation is to be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 in the stateroom of Ramsey Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas. A Funeral Service is to be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Florence in Florence, Texas. Burial is to follow the funeral service at Florence Cemetery in Florence, Texas.
Joe Edgar was born September 30, 1942 in Georgetown, Texas to Cleo and Lucille (nee Rogan) Edgar. He grew up in the Georgetown area and graduated from Georgetown High School. He served in the National Guard from 1961 to 1967. He married Elaine Marie Peterson on July 12, 1963 and they raised five children together.
Joe’s hobbies included fishing, watching kids’ and grandkids’ sporting events, helping kids show livestock, and striking up a conversation with anyone he met. Joe worked a variety of jobs from mechanic to machinist for Compton’s, IBM, Tracor, and the University of Texas at Austin.
Joe was preceeded in death by his parents, his wife and a great-grandson, Odin Carpenter. He is survived by his children, Donna Glave and Erich, Douglas “Pete” Edgar and Tanya, Kerrie Giddens and Charlie, Terrie Navarette and Eddie, and David Edgar and Freddie; fourteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
