Wyona Emeline Brumley Hayes, 88, of 39 Hunt Street, died Saturday, September 19, 2009.
A Greenville native, raised in the Camperdown Community, Mrs. Hayes was the widow of Richard Baxter "RB" Hayes, and the daughter of the late Clarence Pinkney and Ruth Bell Smith Brumley. She was retired from Dunean Mill and was a member of Abundant Life Fellowship.
She is survived by a daughter, Charlene "Charlie" Hayes Smith and her husband, Bobby of Greenville; a son, Richard Gregory Hayes and his wife, Judy of Charlotte, N.C.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, James Barry Hayes; two sisters, Ethel Eakes, and Sarah Glorethea Beamon; and a grandson, Steve Hayes.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 in the chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Visitation will be held from 7 until 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenville Memorial Garden Mausoleum.
