ST. ALBANS - Helen M. Finson, 95, died Oct. 7, 2008, at a Pittsfield hospital following a long illness. She was born June 7, 1913, in St. Albans, the daughter of Harold and Etta (Bennet) Baird. She was educated in Hartland schools. Helen married Harry Finson, who predeceased her in 1967. For many years she was the hot lunch supervisor and cook at the St. Albans Elementary School.
She is survived by her son and his wife, Ronnie F. and Alane Finson of St. Albans; one brother, Kenneth Baird of Utah; four grandchildren, Thomas, Hannah, Sarah, Carrie, and several special nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased, along with her husband, by a son, Harry Jr.; a daughter, Mary Kathleen; two sisters, Elsie and Nellie; and three brothers, Howard, Herbert, and Webster.
Memorial services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center, 34 High St., Newport, with the Rev. George Finnemore officiating. Burial will follow at the family lot, Village Cemetery, St. Albans. (Morning Sentinel 10/8/2008)
