Lloyd Van Vliet was born in Somerville, New Jersey and lived in Oldwick, New Jersey before moving to Neshanic, New Jersey in 1970. He owned and operated a document storage and retrieving company, American Micrographics, in Raritan Borough, New Jersey. He formerly owned Allied Copying and Printing in Flemington, New Jersey and Copy Centre in Raritan Borough. He had been a loan officer at Flemington National Bank for many years.

He was a member of the Flemington Lions Club, the Flemington Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and the Holland Society of New York. He was treasurer of Briteside Adult Day Care Center in Flemington.

He is survived by his wife, Dian Amundsen Vliet; his parents, Lloyd and Marion(nee Pickell) Vliet of Oldwick; a son, Dean Carl Vliet of Neshanic; two daughters, Janet Marion Lubaszka of Raritan Township and Marie Van Vliet of Neshanic; two brothers, Kenneth Calvin Vliet and Jack Dumont Vliet of Oldwick, and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday December 11th at the Robert L. Ford Funeral Home, Flemington, followed by interment in Clover Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Manville Rescue Squad or another volunteer rescue squad.
