He was born Sept. 13, 1920 in Corrigan, the son of Henry and Hilma Cravey Alston Sr., both of whom preceded him in death.

He married Faye Handley Alston on Nov. 18, 1949.

Survivors include his wife, Faye Handley Alston of Livingston; daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Don Walter of Houston and Martha and Kerry Hogue of Allen; son and daughter-in-law, Hank and Mary Beth Alston of Friendswood; grand-sons, Douglas and wife Valerie Walter, Bill Walter, Justin Hogue, James Hogue and Stevie Hogue; granddaughters, Melissa Alston, Emily Walter, Julia Alston, Mary Margaret Alston and Stephanie Alston; great-granddaughter, Tessa Walter; brother, John C. Alston of Livingston and sister, Emma Lou Rabel of Weimar.
