Cleo Thorne Kirk, 87, of Orem, died Saturday, July 7, 2007 in Orem. She was born June 5, 1920, in Pleasant Grove, a daughter of Elvin and Mable Jensen Thorne. She married Jack M. Kirk, August 14, 1940, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died March 9, 1992.

She grew up in Pleasant Grove and after her marriage she and Jack lived in North Orem on a fruit and dairy farm. She spent many years working on the farm beside her husband. Her greatest joy was her family, grand kids and her great grand kids.

She loved to do handwork and crafts. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in the Young Women and Relief Society programs.

She is survived by her son, David (Ann) Kirk, and daughter, Carolyn (Clyde) DeFriez; her 3 grandchildren, five great grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Laurel Thorne, and brother-in-law, Ted Fautin. She was preceded in death by her husband, her sister, Jemael Fautin, her brother, E Max Thorne and her grandson, Boyd Kirk.

The family would like to thank the staff at Summerfield Manor and a special thanks to Dora and hospice for the loving care of their mother.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday the 11th at 2 p.m. in the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem, where friends may call from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
