Simone was originally declared "Missing In Action" in Yugoslavia during the war. His remains were recovered in early 1955 and his status was changed to "Killed In Action".

He was awarded the Purple Heart.

He also has a "Cenotaph" at the Florence American Cemetery and Memorial, Florence, Italy. For that record " Click Here ".

Service # 31258381

The reason he is named on a group headstone is because when soldier's were killed in close proximity to each other they were unable, at that time, to identify them separately and interred their remains together in one grave.
