Bio:
Ruby Sarah Marrs was one of at least eight children of William Henry Harrison Marrs, He was born in TN and was the son of Henry Marrs.
On March 25th of 1886 William H. Marrs, age 32 years, was bonded to wed Emma Cordelia Gay (daughter of William Gay), a nineteen year old orphan, in Livingston Co KY. It is recorded as the first marriage for both.
1) Virgie Lee (married Fred Layman);
2) Lora Edna (married Leonard Parker);
3) Edith Isabell (married Gilbert Beverly Boswell);
4) Lovie (married Bob Fox);
5) Edgar (married Beulah Suits);
6) William Henry Harrison "Willie"(married Ora Adkinson);
7) Thomas Jefferson;
8) Ruby Sarah;
After William died, Emma married a John Threlkeld in Pope Co IL and had another child.
9) Verna Francis (Lora said the last time she heard from her half-sister she was living in Glendale,CA.)
The children were left to live with close family. An older sister Lora went to live with her aunt, Sarah Elizabeth Gay Wilson, and Ruby lived with Sarah's son and his wife, John Walker Wilson and Willie Greenwalt Wilson. Ruby died of the fever (Typhoid). She was buried in the Wilson Plot of the Slayden Cemetery (in earlier years was also referred to as the Boyd or Watson or Wilson Cemetery.) Information was provided to me by two of her sisters-Isabel and Lora, and my grandfather, son of Sarah Elizabeth Gay Wilson and brother to John Walker Wilson. -Jerry Bebout
