Parkersburg News and Sentinel July 1, 1942:

Mrs. Sarah Jane Marshall, widow of James Marshall, died at the age of 73 in the Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. She had been ill since last March 29.
Mrs. Marshall was born Jun 20, 1869, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Whitlatch, pioneer settler of Herndon and was the last surviving member of the family. She spent her life in Wood County and was a faithful member of Herndon church.
She was the mother of twelve children, three of whom preceded her in death. Surviving are three sons, John of McConnelsville, and Noble and William of Williamstown; a stepson, Charles Marshall of McConnelsville, and six daughters, Mrs. Clara Darnell of Waverly, Mrs. Eva Wallace and Mrs. Maude Benninger of Parkersburg, Mrs. Jennie Dornon, Mrs. Lou Dornon, and Mrs. Pearl Miracle of Waverly.
She also leaves 44 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at Herndonchurch, with burial to follow in the Whitlatch cemetary at Herndon.
