He died at age 40 at his home in the Knoxville, Tennessee area. His was married to Betty Lou Flynn and had two children; Kathy Diane Flynn and Jeffery Allan Flynn. His sole surviving full sibling was Rhonda Flynn Hauk of Sevierville, but was close to three half siblings, Della Viola Flynn Groebl of St. Louis, Missouri, (deceased); Janet Eunave Flynn Collier, Knoxville, (deceased): and Roger Bettis, Knoxville, (deceased).
