to Illness; Funeral
Monday.

Funeral services for Mrs. Arthur Addis were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Toulon Methodist church. Rev. A. L. Steinfeldt, of Castleton, was in charge of the services.

Appropriate music was furnished by Rev. and Mrs. M. B. VanLeer, who sang "Abide With Me," "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," and "Some Day." They were accompanied at the organ by Miss Carolyn Chase.

The body-bearers were Messrs. William Lehman, A. F. Cover, C. L. Baker, B. K. Garrison, C. L. White and H. M. Wilson.
Interment was in Toulon cemetery.

Edna Pearl (Chamberlain) Addis, the first child of William A. and Lourena L. Chamberlain, was born March 14, 1887, on a farm in Jefferson county, Nebraska. She spent her early days in the west. At the age of fifteen she joined the Baptist church in Missouri and has always remained a constant believer. At the age of seventeen she came with her parents to Illinois. Later she lived with her Grandmother Chamberlain at West Jersey, taking care of her. After graduating from the grade school she attended Toulon Academy for two years, but owing to poor health did not complete the course.

September 17, 1907, she was united in marriage to Arthur C. Addis, of West Jersey. In this community they lived six years. For nine years they resided on a farm near Modena. There they made many friends. Mrs. Addis was an active worker in the Snareville church. She was president of the Ladies' Aid until she moved to Toulon. She led a consistent Christian life and was beloved by all.

A year ago last March Mr. and Mrs. Addis moved near Toulon. For more than a year Mrs. Addis was a patient sufferer. April 16 she was taken to St. Francis Hospital, Peoria, for medical treatment. All medical skill failed, and she passed away at the hospital May 10, 1924, aged 37 years, 1 month and 26 days.

She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Chamberlain, of Toulon, and five brothers: Orion, of Kewanee; Charles, Elmer and Edgar, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Perry who resides with his parents. Two brothers and one sister preceded Mrs. Addis in death, one brother having died while in the service. Also one child, Rachel, who has made her home with them.

The funeral services were held at the Toulon M. E. church, Rev. A. L. Steinfeldt, of Castleton, officiating, assisted by Rev. M. B. VanLeer. Interment was in Toulon cemetery.

Those from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. L. Miller, of Peoria; Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Addis, of Galva; Mr. and Mrs. James Blust, of Victoria; Mr. and Mrs. M. Heaton, of West Jersey; and Mr. and Mrs. L. Swank, of West Jersey.
