Rayburn was born in Mineral Wells TX. to Rayburn D. Sr. and Rita D. Hudson Baker. He was a 1968 graduate of Mineral Wells High School. He married Sherry Tornburg on July 19, 1981 in Los Cruces, NM. He had lived in Ft. Myers, FL since 1991. He was a retired 1st mate on a cruise ship and a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the Navy. He was a member of the Parker Street Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, Sherry Baker of Fort Myers, FL., he is survived by four sons, Chris Baker of Columbia, MO., Jason Baker of Stephenville, TX., Jonas Baker of Chattanooga, TN., Bill Turk of Phoenix, AZ.; one daughter, Cindy Yopez (Jose) of Round Rock TX.; two granddaughters, Chase Baker and Tiffany Turk; two grandsons, Adrian Yopez and Seth Turk; his father and stepmother, Ray Sr. and Virginia Baker of Stephenville,TX.; and one sister, Rhonda Fowler of Mineral Wells.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Rita D. Baker on June 14, 1992

Pallbearers were his nephews and sons.
