Marcelette LeJeune Guinn

Jennings: A mass of Christian burial for Marcelette LeJeune Guinn, 93, will be celebrated on Saturday, September 26, 2009 @ 10:00 AM at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Jennings, La with Father Charles McMillin and Msgr. James Gaddy officiating along with other con-celebrating priest. Mrs. Guinn was called to her Heavenly Father Wednesday afternoon from the Jennings American Legion Hospital where she was surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Jennings, La beginning on Friday, September 25th from 8:00 AM until 10:00 PM and will resume on Saturday, September 26th at 8:00 AM until the time of her service. A rosary will be recited by the Catholic Daughters and the Ladies Altar Society on Friday evening at 6:30 PM. Mrs. Guinn will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery along side of her beloved husband, Loyd, following her services.

Marcelette was born in Jennings, La to the late Lessan and Olive Valdetero LeJeune on May 21, 1916 and became a life long resident. She became a beautician by trade in 1936. On December 23, 1944, Marcelette married her best friend and the love of her life, Loyd George Guinn and they began their journey through life together. They parented six beloved sons until Loyd's final fairwell in 2002. Marcelette was a life long member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church and the Ladies Altar Society. She also was a CCD teacher for 36 years. She enjoyed teaching our young people the word of the Lord and guiding them to a brighter future. She had a very kind and loving soul and will be greatly missed by everyone she touched.

Leaving behind to cherish her memory are her beloved sons, Loyd George Guinn, Jr. and his wife Sandra of Marshall, TX, Andrew Lee Guinn of Douglessville, TX, Thomas Peter Guinn and his wife Pam of Jennings, John Eddie Guinn and his wife Rosalie also of Jennings, James Paul Guinn and his wife Laurie of Jennings, and Timothy Jude Guinn and his wife Renate also of Jennings; and her 37 beautiful grandchildren and 48 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents, Lessan and Olive Valdetero LeJeune; her beloved husband Loyd George Guinn, Sr.; two brothers, Clarence & John LeJeune; two sisters, Bertha Marceaux & Emma Broussard; and her daughter-in-law, Belinda Guinn.

Carrying Mrs. Guinn to her final resting place will be all of her grandsons, Mark Stanford, Andrew Lee Jr., Thomas Peter Jr., John Eddie Jr., Nathaniel Stuart, and Timothy Jude Jr. Honorary pallbearers will include Matthew Loyd, Adam Gerald, Jacob James, Michael Louis, Samuel Grant, Daniel Joseph, Conner Paul, William Richard, Philip Loyd, James Paul Jr., Joel Matthew, Christian Joseph, Christopher Paul, Thomas Henry, Charles David, and Alexander Joseph.
