States Army

Roll dated February 28, 1863, at Fairfield, Tennessee.--This company was partly organized in Wayne County, Ky., on January 18, 1862, and took part in battle of Fishing Creek. Organization was completed at Livingston, Tennessee. Was first commanded by Captain Shelby Coffey, who died of wounds received January 16, 1862, in Clinton County, Ky. The company reorganized and re-enlisted for the war at Burnsville, Miss., with Napolean B. Stone as
Captain. Participated in battle of Shiloh, April 6th and 7th, 1862. May 21, Captain Stone resigned and B. E. Roberts was chosen to command. Participated in battle of Murfreesboro, acting as couriers and patrols during the
engagement.
