OBITUARY OF FRANCES BARBER STUMP

Frances Barber STUMP, 84, of Waka, died June 01, 1993.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, June 05, at 2:00 p.m. in Waka Church of the Brethren with Rev. Martin Gauby, pastor, and Rev. Harrol Waterbury, pastor of Full Gospel Church, officiating.

Burial will follow, under the direction of Boxwell Brothers, in Ochiltree Cemetery.

She was born in Shook, Kansas on May 30, 1909, and had lived in Waka for 72 years. She married J. R. STUMP in 1929 in Garden City, Kansas. He died in 1990.

She was a charter member of the Waka Home Demonstration Club, and a life member of the Texas Parent-Teacher Association. A 4-H leader in Ochiltree and Hansford Counties, she was honored with a state leadership award in 1962.

She was also a Brownie and Girl Scout leader in Waka, and a member of the Spearman Twentieth Century Club and the Spearman Library Board, serving as its president.

For 18 years she managed the Thrift Shop, a support group for the Hansford County Library. In 1986, she was named Citizen of the Year by the Spearman Chamber of Commerce. She was also a member of Spearman's First Baptist Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Sandra DRAKE of Waka; one step-sister, Nadine MACZKO of Spring Valley, California; and two grandchildren.
