Clair L. Ness, Jr., 67, of Red Lion, entered into rest September 23, 2009 at his residence surrounded by his daughters after a brief battle with cancer.

Born August 7, 1942 in York, a son of the late Clair L. Ness, Sr. and the late Ada R. Strickler Ness.

Clair retired from Caterpillar Inc. after 30 years of service. Mr. Ness was a member of Red Lion American Legion, White Rose Street Rod Assoc., York Co. Racing Club, Steam O Rama, and served as a lifetime member of Eastern Museum of Auto Racing. He was a US Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.

Mr. Ness is survived by three daughters, Lisa M. Miller and companion Chris Gaarder of Manchester, Lori A. and husband David Ketterman of Dover, and Tina H. and husband Jeffrey Fox of York; four grandchildren, Kelly Miller, Madison Gaarder, Aaron Fox, and Autumn Fox; a great granddaughter, Kacey Miller; a brother, Robert Brady of Red Lion; and three sisters, Mary Jane Leiphart of Red Lion, Connie Siders of York, and Helen Carpenter of Dover.

Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery with full military rites provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard.
