He grew up in Tuscaloosa AL, where he married the love of his life, Mildred Yeatman in 1946. Together they lived in Tuscaloosa, Orange TX, Pensacola and Gulf Breeze FL. He served in the US Navy during WWII and retired from a career at Monsanto Corporation in 1982.
He was a dedicated servant of his lord and a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Pensacola. He was a man of great character, filled with integrity, strength and love.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Jack and Paul, his sister Annie Etta, and by one son, Gregg.
He leaves behind his brother Clay (Dot), wife Mildred and three sons, Michael Lewis (Pat), Steve Lewis (Melinda), and Mark Lewis (Kathy), as well as grandchildren Monica, Drew, Steven, Joy and Jesse and three precious great grandchildren, Kayla, Claire and Maya.
The family wishes to express grateful appreciation to Hospice of the Emerald Coast, especially Nurse Peggy, for their wonderful support and care.
The family received friends Wednesday, August 16, at Pleitz Chapel, First Baptist Church of Pensacola. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. with burial at Rose Lawn Cemetery, Hwy 98, Gulf Breeze.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to Samaritan Hands or CAC Building Fund, both of First Baptist Church. Arrangements entrusted to ROSE LAWN FUNERAL HOME.
