FOUND DEAD ON HIS FARM
Broken Bow, July 31 - Benjamin F. Welch, an old time settler of Custer county was found dead in the pasture of his farm, four miles southwest of Broken Bow on July 29th, 1924 from the effects of sun stroke. Mr. Welch went out to pasture early in the morning to take care of some cattle and not having returned for his dinner, his wife, who has been ill for some time, called one of the neighbors who searched the farm for him and found him at 1 P.M. The neighbor returned and went after medical assistance but when the physician arrived on the scene pronounced Mr. Welch as dead.
Mr. Welch was born at Peoria, Ill., on September 26, 1854, and came to Sarpy county, Nebr., in 1870, later moving to Custer county near Ansley and remaining there until 1891 when he removed to his farm four miles southwest of Broken Bow where he has since resided. He was married to Miss Margaret Weeth in 1876, who, with four sons, survive him. Funeral services will be held at his home on Friday afternoon and interment will be made in the Broken Bow cemetery.
