Harvey Clyde Auman, 78, died October 14 in Kailua, Hawaii. He was born in Kobe, Japan to the late Rev. John Clyde and Sadie Parrish Auman, who were missionaries.
A WWII veteran, he was a member of the 25th Infantry Tropic Lightening division based in Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, and saw action in the Philippines and Japan. After the war, he worked in international business and traveled the world extensively.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Mary Reese King Auman and is survived by his daughter of San Mateo, CA, son of Chicago, IL, son of Columbia, SC, daughter of Kailua, HI, brother of High Point, NC and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 4, 2005, at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel in Asheboro with the Rev. Tim Auman officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00-1:45 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kailua United Methodist Church Foundation, Auman Family Trust at the Kailua United Methodist Church, 1110 Kailua Rd., Kailua, HI 96734.
