A retired carpenter and farmer, our Dad now at home with our
Lord entered into rest Wednesday, July 24, 1996, at Our Lady of the Lake
Regional Medical Center. He was 83 and a native of Galvez. Christian
services and burial at Mount Zion Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Thursday,
conducted by Cecil Nickens and Richard Nickens. Father of Mary Lea, Patsy,
Elaine, Marvis, Tommy, Richard, Marjory, Cliff, Maggie, Clark, Loretta
and former husband of Mary; father of Carol, Leslie, Agnes, Joan, Nita,
Nelda, Dottie and Joe Hart and former husband of Edith; 39
grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren; and brother of Maybelle Sharp, Bunch
Thomassee and Vege Nickens. Preceded in death by parents, Sidney B. and
Ida Nickens; three brothers, Sidney V. Nickens andHenry and Bud Persac;
and a sister, Adele Simpson. Pallbearers will be sons, Tommy, Richard,Cliff, Clark, Leslie and Joe Hart.
