Wake services for Edward W. Hix Jr. better known as 'Eddie' of El Reno, will be 7:00 P.M. Sunday, September 12, 2004 in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mass Services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, September 13, 2004 in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rev. Phil Donohoe, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the El Reno Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home. Eddie died Wednesday, September 8, 2004 in Deaconess hospital in Oklahoma City. He was born on June 26, 1937 in El Reno, Oklahoma. Eddie was a lifetime El Reno area resident except for the two years he spent in California. He was a graduate of El Reno High School and the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science. Eddie had worked for Bill Merritt Funeral Home in Bethany, OK and Hunter Funeral Home in Capitol Hill in Oklahoma City, before coming to work with Wilson Funeral Home where he has been employed for the last forty years. He had also worked part time for the El Reno Lumber Co. Eddie was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Knights of Columbus 4th Degree National Model Railroad Assoc. and the Elks Lodge #743. Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Edward W. Hix Sr. & Sarah Louise (Collet) Hix; brother: Clarence Hix; sister, Gertrude E. 'Trudy' Hewitt. Survivors include brother, Dennis Hix of El Reno, OK; 3 nieces, Christina Callahan & husband Jonny and their two sons of Langley, VA, Elizabeth Lenson & husband Mark and their son & daughter of Tulsa, OK and Valerie Hewitt & her son Wade of El Reno, OK, uncle, Pat Collet of Los Osos, CA. Numerous other relatives and friends.
