Death of Well Known Resident of Chapman
Chapman, Neb., April 28 - Residents of this community were saddened to hear of the death of Mrs. J. W. Abbott, which occurred early Sunday following closely after the death of her husband, Mr. Abbott who passed away on April 12, having had a stroke of paralysis. Mrs. Abbott had reached the age of 69 years and had resided in this community for 45 years. Mr. and Mrs. Abbott came to this state from Iowa and were married 51 years on Jan. 1, this year. Her death came after a lingering illness of several months with gallstone trouble.
Nine children remain to survive the mother and long-time resident of this place. They are Dave, of Oshkosh; Blanchard, of Palmer; Malvern, Platt and Albert, of Chapman; Mrs. Ida Bishop, of Sutton; Mrs. Kizzy Scott, of Aurora; Mrs. Wauneta Power, of Chapman and Mrs. Iva H. Stephenson, of Grand Island. Other relatives to mourn her loss are J. C. Taylor, a brother, of Bostwick, and Mrs. Frank Etherton, a niece, of Grand Island. Funeral services will be conducted from the family home at 2 p.m. Tuesday and from the Baptist church at 2:30, the Rev. Samuelson, of Valley, officiating. Burial will be made in the local cemetery.
