Mr. & Mrs. Floyd Calhoun were honored on their 50th wedding anniversary at their home on October 15. Hosts were Mr. & Mrs. C.C. Hooks, Garland Calhoun, and Mrs. Paul Phillips. More than one hundred relatives and friends called during the afternoon.
Mr. & Mrs. Calhoun, she the former Susie Fomby, were married on October 15, 1917 at the home of her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Jerry Fomby of the Bryceland Community, where they have lived all their married life. The ceremony was performed by Mr. I.E. Sutton, Justice of the Peace, who now resides in Gibsland and who was one of the guests at the anniversary celebration. The couple have two children, Mrs. Dorothy Calhoun Hooks of Gibsland and Garland Calhoun of Shreveport. Another son, Sidney Calhoun died in 1963. Their two grandchildren are Miss Alyce Jane Hooks and Miss Susan Ray Calhoun.
