Loomis Bishop of Cannonsburg, served in the 21st Michigan Infantry during the Civil War.He entered service as a Lieut.on July 30,1862.He was promoted to Captain on Feb.3,1863 and Lieut.Colonel on Sept.20,1863.He was made Brevet Colonel,U.S.Volunteers on March 18,1865.On June 8,1865,he was mustered out and honorably discharged.He returned to Kent Co. and was elected Register of Deeds in 1876.1878 and 1880.He was elected Kent Co. Sheriff in 1886 and 1888 and was appointed Postmaster by President McKinley.
