Son of John Stover & Marion H. (Griffin) Riegel and husband of Margaret Winslow Murchie. He was the father of three children: Mary Ann, John Lawrence Riegel, Jr. (May 17, 1925-July 27, 1992) and William Murchie Riegel. John L. Riegel, Sr. was a 1916 graduate of MIT. He and his family resided in Hartsdale, NY for many years. John L. Riegel was chairman of the Riegel Paper Corporation and the Riegel Textile Corporation. He died of pneumonia at White Plains Hospital.
