Mettie Adell Godwin Cox, wife of Lorenzo Johnnie Cox, died Sunday, July 25, 1982, in Roper Hospital, Charleston, SC.
Mrs. Cox was born in Williamsburg County, a daughter of William Jackson Godwin and Nancy Lizzie Taylor Godwin.
She was survived by her husband; five sons, Ralph Cox of Florence, Lorenzo Cox, Renaldo Cox, and Wayne Cox, all of Andrews, and Warren Cox of Kingstree; three daughters, Hattie Cantley, Lucille Player, and Maggie Cribb, all of Andrews; a brother, Willie Godwin of Wando; three sisters, Odell Powell and Vermell Ethridge, both of Andrews, and Betty Coleman of Marion; 20 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Tuesday, July 27, 1982, in Pine Crest Baptist Church, of which she was a member. Burial, directed by Mayer Funeral Home, followed in Andrews Memorial Cemetery.
