Mrs Jessie Copp Kramer, 65, of 34 Bear Creek Road, retired Enka High School teacher, died early Monday, September 9, 1968 after a long illness.

She was a native of Washington County, Tennessee, but had lived in Buncombe County for thirty-one years.

She was a graduate of Tusculum College, Greenville, Tennessee with an AB degree, received her MA from Peabody College and worked toward a PhD at the University of Chicago.

Mrs Kramer had taught at Candler and Enka High Schools for the past thirty years, retiring at the end of the 1968 school year from Enka, where she was chairman emeritus and acting advisor to the English Department. She was a member of Philadelphia Presbyterian Church in Chuckey, Tennessee.

She was survived by her husband, William R Kramer; a sister, Mrs Clarice Copp Fulkerson of Nashville, Tennessee; and several cousins.

Funeral services were held at 1 pm Wednesday, September 11, 1968 in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Reverend L V Secrest officiating. Graveside services were conducted at 3:30 pm Wednesday, September 11, 1968 in Philadelphia Cemetery in Tennessee.

Pallbearers were Hugh Tomberlin, Bill Warren, Dr C Frank Rich, Olfa Crowder, Alden Penland and Bob Morrell. Honorary pallbearers were the members of the faculty of Enka High School, deacons and elders of the Philadelphia Presbyterian Church, the faculty of Candler School, R A Tomberlin, J C Rich Jr, T C Roberson, L P Miller, Dr George Gilbert, Dr Richard Nailling, Dr W H McCall, Dr Lewis Lunsford and Dr Don C Gerdes.
