Carl W. Heidrich, age 91, of Moorhead, MN, died Sunday, March 16, 2008, in Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN.

Carl Willard Heidrich was born on November 18, 1916 to Fred and Mary Ziebeck Heidrich in Crookston, MN. He grew up and attended school in Crookston, graduating from Crookston High School in 1934. He later attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis for two years.

In 1942, Carl entered the United States Army, serving during WWII at the Battle of the Bulge. He was honorably discharged in 1945 with a Bronze Star. On June 20, 1954, he married Lillian "Bonny" Balfour Schubert in First Presbyterian Church in Crookston, MN.

Carl worked as a printer for a brief time at the Wisconsin Rapids Tribune and later the Crookston Times. They moved to Moorhead in 1954 where he worked for the Fargo Forum for 29 years. He retired from the Forum in 1982. Carl enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing, reading the newspaper, and most importantly spending time and visiting with his family. His great joy in life were his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by one son, John Kay Heidrich of Fargo, ND; one daughter, Margaretha Ronald Hagemann of Moorhead, MN; one sister, Lorraine Carlson of Fertile, MN; three grandchildren, Christopher Heidrich, Gretchen Adam Haisman and Laura Hagemann; two great-grandchildren, Avery and Benjamin Haisman and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Otto and one sister, Kathryn.
