Ed was born in Utica, NY June 15, 1939 to Harry and Esther Sreca Hoyland. He attended Whitesboro High School. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1957 and served until 1961. He married Clarissa Drake August 19, 1962. They were divorced in 1987. Ed worked for General Electric and Mohawk Data Science and the United States Postal Service as a rural carrier.
Ed was an avid Boston Red Sox fan since 1948. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and bowling. He was a member of Beaver River Post #1663 American Legion in Croghan, he was a member of Turin Highlands Golf Course, and a former member of the Croghan Fire Dept. He was involved in the Boy Scouts of America, and enjoyed hiking the Adirondack Mountains.
He is survived by a son and his wife Gerald and Sandra, Trenton, NY; two daughters and their husbands, Jo- Anne and Cameron Ricci, Deerfield; and Priscilla and Jason Dalton, Brisbane Australia. He is also survived by five grandchildren Andrew and Danielle Ricci, Shawn, Donald and Douglas Wyman; a brother and sister, Roger and Becky, Plano TX; and Wilma and Richard Bohner, Menter OH; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ed also wanted to mention some very special friends who assisted him during his recent illness, Elizabeth Jones, Tammy and Jerry Hartle, Kurt and Regina Steiner, Steve and Jane Monnat, and the numerous others that assisted in any way.
A graveside service with military honors will be held Sunday October 4th at 1:00 PM in Kirkland Town Cemetery, Kirkland, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Legion Post 1663, Croghan or the Croghan Fire Dept.
