Lewis H. Hershberger, 100, born Feb. 17, 1902 in Kester, died Aug. 12, 2002 in Heartland Nursing Home after a short illness.

He served with the U. S. Navy in World War II, is a life member of VFW Post 1064, Huntington, and retired from CAMC as chief engineer in 1970.

He is survived by a son a daughter-in-law, Richard and Margaret; grandson, Jim and wife, Linda; great-grandchildren, Daniel, Jordan, Marie and Jared; sister, Mary Stahl at Waynesboro, Va.; and niece, Sue Thomas of Waynesboro.

Per his reqeust, there will be no visitation or service. Burial will be in Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington.

In lieu of flowers, family suggest donations to your favorite charity.

Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.

On February 17, Lewis H. Hershberger celebrated his 100th birthday with family and friends. His family includes son, Richard and his wife, Margaret; grandson, Jim and his wife, Linda; Great-grandchildren, Daniel, Jordan Marie and Jared; sister, Mary (Hershberger) Stahl of Waynesboro.

Mr. Hershberger was born in Kester, one of five children of Albert and Addaline (Shelton) Hershberger. He servied with the United States Navy in World War II on the ship USS Patoka A-09. Lewis retied from Charleston Area Medical Center as chief engineer in 1970
