Mrs. Vancleave, age 92, is dead. Had resided here since girlhood – funeral
Thursday morning. Mrs. Martha Alice Vancleave, 92, resident of this city since
her early girlhood, died at her home, 604 Binford street at 1 o’clock Tuesday
afternoon. She had been ill the past two years. Mrs. Vancleave was born on
January 18, 1850, near Shelbyville, Ky., the daughter of Joseph and Louisa
Emmons Northcott. She was married three times, first to Robert Brackett, the
second time to William B. Gott, and then in later years to John Vancleave. She
had been a resident of this community since she was 15 years of age and was the
last of a family of eight children. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Mary
Ella Surface, and two sons, William N. and Samuel D. Gott all, of this city. The
body will remain at the Profitt and Sons funeral home where the funeral will be
held at 10:30 o’clock, Thursday morning with burial in Indian Creek Cemetery.
