Deputy Etheridge died after being mortaly wounded by a gunman in rural Sedgwick County, Kansas. He is survived by his wife, young daughter, parents, and siblings.

Etheridge, Brian Scott, 26, Sedgwick County Sheriff's Deputy passed away September 28, 2009. Survivors are wife Sarah, daughter Natalie of the home; parents Larry Etheridge of Wichita and Ann Etheridge of Derby; brothers Eric of Independence, MO, Michael, Kyle and sister Ashley all of Derby; Sarah's parents Rick and Diane Blevins of Derby. Vigil will be at 7 p.m., Thursday and Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 2 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Schulte, KS. Brian S. Etheridge Memorial Fund established c/o Intrust Bank in lieu of flowers. Resthaven Mortuary.


His assailant was captured hours later after a gun fight with area law enforcement officers in which the gunman, an ex-convict, was mortaly wounded. He died shortly thereafter.
