Victor Hartzog Passes
Victor Hartzog, prominent business man of Silver Creek, died at a Brookhaven hospital on Wednesday, Oct. 19th, from a heart ailment and complications. He had only been ill a week and died late Wednesday aftrnoon after being admitted to the hospital that morning.
Funeral rites were conducted from the Silver Creek Methodist Church at 3 P.M. Thursday with the pastor, Rev. Decatur Butler, officiating. Pall bearers were J. D. Rester, Mike Schwartzour, Eli White, Jack Mikell, Frank Thurman, Solon Jackson, Johnnie Jackson and Lonnie Allen. Aultman-Saulters Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hartzog was 64 years of age and had been engaged in the saw milling business practically all of his life, with the exception of the time he was head of the Chevrolet Agency here in Prentiss.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Inez Wilson Hartzog; six children, Mrs. S. J. Garner, Jr., Carson; Mrs. Buford Thornton, Jackson; Bill, Thomas, Earl, Damie Rue, Eva Dell and Alvin Wyley Hartzog, all of Silver Creek; three sisters, Mrs. Thurman Murray, Hattiesburg; Mrs. Will Higman and Mrs. Walter Fleming, Baton Rouge.
