COHASSET Alan S. James, age 61, of Cohasset and NY, died Monday, September 28, 2009. He was the beloved husband of Cynthia S. (Ferreria) and the dear father of William DeCosta, Robert DeCosta and his wife, Laila, Richard DeCosta, and Lois Spellman. He was the loving grandfather of eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Alan was the brother of Richard James and his wife Susan and David James. Also survived by one niece and one nephew. Alan earned the rank of Eagle Scout, graduated from Cohasset High School and served in the US. Navy. He attended Suffolk University, Western New England College and Suffolk Univ. Law School. He was a member of the NY State Bar. He was a past Master of the Konhasset Masonic Lodge. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 3 at 11 a.m. at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Cohasset. Visiting hours Friday 4 - 8 p.m. at McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home. Interment Woodside Cemetery, Cohasset. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jimmy Fund C/o Dana Farber, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA. 02445, Shriners Hospital, c/o Director of Development, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA. 02114 or a charity of ones choice.
