He was a retired heavy equipment mechanic, and a member of the Oak Park Church of the Brethren.

A veteran of WWII servingin the US Navy.

In addition to his father, survivors include his step-mother, Orpha Fike; his wife, Georgia (Jackson) Fike; one son Phillip R. Fike, Aurora, WV; one daughter, Deanna Nacke, LaGrange, KY; one brother Everett Fike, Denver, CO; four sisters, Eloise Harsh, Amboy, WV; Creola Jones, Hagerstown, Viola Gordon, Ocoee, FL, and Josephine Ashby, Oakland; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
