Community Mourns Loss of
Beloved Resident
Death claimed one of Winslow's most beloved citizens last Saturday when Dr. Ida E. Bishop passed away suddenly at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Gynetha Houston. Dr. Bishop had been a resident of Winslow for the past eight years following her retirement from practice in El Paso. She had previously been a frequent visitor here for several years. Born in Peoria, Illinois, 88 years ago, Dr. Bishop was active up until a few months ago. A friend to everyone, she was beloved by all, and her death was mourned by the entire community. Dr. Bishop obtained her medical education at the Women's Medical College at Atlanta, GA. She practiced in El Paso for almost a half century. Besides Mrs. Houston, she is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Callie Johnson, of Richmond, California. Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Scott & McMillan Chapel, with Rev. Noel LeRouque, officiating.
