92 Years 10 Months and 5 Days.
Florence Rebecca Hatch was born in Hagerstown, Maryland, on Christmas Day, 1855, and passed away in the General Hospital, Kearney, Nebraska, October 30, 1947, at the age of 91 years, ten months and five days.
She was the daughter of George and Margaret Knodle, one of twelve children, and was the last living member of her immediate family.
At an early age she came with her family to northern Illinois. In 1866 they moved to Central Illinois, where as a young woman she taught several terms of school. In 1879 she came to Republican City, Harlan County, Nebraska, where she met Fred Hatch of Kearney, to whom she was married in 1881. For many years they lived on a farm north of Kearney, moving into the city in 1907. Mr. Hatch preceded her in death 21 years ago.
Mrs. Hatch who has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Ruth Huffstutter, has been in failing health for several years. The immediate cause of her death was a fall which caused a compound fracture of the hip.
When a child she was confirmed in the faith of the American Lutheran church. She was a faithful wife, a devoted mother and a loving grandmother. She was always patient in her failing health.
Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Ruth (W. F.) Huffstutter, of Kearney; three grandchildren, Warren Huffstutter of Denver, Colorado; Lois Johnson of Mobile, Alabama; and Wilma Hendrickson, of Kearney, all of whom were present for the funeral. She also leaves two great grandchildren, two nieces and eight nephews.
