Funeral: 10 a.m. Saturday in Greenwood Garden Chapel. Interment: 1 p.m. Saturday in Restland Cemetery, Dallas.
Josephine was born July 26, 1917, in Dallas, where she lived and raised a family with her husband, R.K. Barner. Josephine earned her teaching certificate, having studied at Baylor University and Texas State College for Women (TWU). She and R.K. owned and operated the Lake Highland Kindergarten and First Grade from 1950-1975 and were well respected in the private school profession. After retirement, the Barners lived in Dallas, Bella Vista, Ark., Harlingen and Fort Worth, where Josephine was active in church, china painting organizations and civic groups, touching the lives of all who knew her. She loved china painting, oil painting, crafts and teaching others. She lived in Fort Worth, attending University Baptist Church for the last 20 years. She served as chairman of the residents' committee while living at Stonegate Nursing Center for the last five years, where she received attentive care and was loved by all.
Josephine was preceded in death in 1993 by her loving husband of 52 years, R.K.; and her sisters, Elizabeth Heaton and Grace Wells.
Survivors: Devoted children, Dr. Joe Barner and wife, Claudia, of Dallas and attorney Pat White and husband, Ben, of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Randy White, Krista White, Robert Barner and Todd Barner; stepgrandson, Jesse White; 13 great-grandchildren; three nieces; a nephew; and her faithful care-giver, Ester Torres.
