Ruth Sweeney Mathews nee DeFee...Daughter of William Jackson DeFee and Ruby DeFee nee Dennis of Texarkana, Bowie Co.,Texas. Ruth was first married to Leo Thomas Sweeney Sr. in Texarkana, Miller Co., Ark. on 2 Aug 1931. From this marriage came two sons....Later divorced. Ruth was later married to Harry McKinley Mathews on 16 Sep 1943 in Raton, Colfax Co., NM. Harry is also buried in FSH Nat. Cemetery.
Her first husband Leo Sweeney Sr and her son Rev. Leo Sweeney Jr. were both killed in a tragic auto accident in 1969.
Ruth was at one time a top sales woman for Avon and was offered a large sales district in New Mexico in the 1930's but unfortunately turned the position down.
She was a Professional Chef for most of her life and she and Harry owned and also leased several restaurants out in the Western States.(Nevada, Utah and Calif). She was always praised on her cooking abilities.
She certainly is missed!
