Lela Corder James

Mrs. Lela Corder James, 91, of Greenwood, died of respiratory failure, February 2, 2000 at Greenwood Leflore
Hospital.

Born in Carroll County, she was a lifelong resident. Mrs. James was a member of Old Union Church of Christ where she taught Sunday school. During World War II she worked in Mobile, Ala. in the shipyards as a welder. She was an active member of the Home Demonstration Club and Sunshine Circle. She was preceded in death by her husband Earl R. James; two sons, Howard James and Milton "Moon" James;
and a granddaughter, Paula Jones.

Funeral services were held February 4 at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with Revs. Dan Beardain
and Tom Davis officiating. Burial was Old Union Cemetery in Carroll County.

Mrs. James is survived by a daughter-in-law, Mildred James of Carrollton; one brother, C. E. "Bud" Corder of Gulfport; four grandchildren. Sue Duke, Linda James, Keith James, all of Carrollton. Marsha Joiner of Brandon; nine great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Edward Corder, Keith James, Eddie Jones, Michael Montgomery, Wess Hunt, Dennis Joiner, Bill Evans and Percy Corder.

Honorary pallbearers were Larry Emmons, Herb Corder, Greg James, Eric James, Chris Jones, Ray Montgomery and Keith King.

Wilson & Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood was in charge of arrangements.
