Lurry "Lurtie" Firmin Ford Drottz
Funeral services for Lurry "Lurtie" Firmin Ford Drottz will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2004 in the chapel of Hixson Brothers, Pineville, with Rev. Ralph Ford of the First United Methodist Church of Pineville (assisted by Dr. Henry Blount) officiating.

Mrs. Drottz left this life April 24, 2004 at Rapides Regional Medical Center. Born Sept. 4, 1909 in Avoyelles Parish, she was 94 years and 5 months of age.

Mrs. Drottz was a retired LPN and a member of First United Methodist Church in Pineville. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

She is preceded in death by her two husbands, Eugene J. Ford (1929-1933) and Carl W. Drottz (1945-1978), parents, four brothers, and three sisters.

She is survived by two daughters, Betty (Sonny) F. Lawrence and companion Walter Clair of Pineville and Ann (Blackie) F. Ratzliff and husband Kelly of Derby, Kan.; three granddaughters, Denise L. Craig and husband Bill of Hallsville, Texas, Lurry R. Dewey of Great Bend, Kan., and Kelly Lee Rabin and husband Elliott of Derby, Kan.; three grandsons, David H. Lawrence and wife Roxana of Boyce, DuVal F. Lawrence and wife Kay of North Augusta, S.C., and Marc L. Ratzliff and wife Rhonda of Derby, Kan.; 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and one beloved sister, Marie F. Laborde of Batchelor.

Friends may call from 4 until 9 p.m. Tuesday at Hixson Brothers in Pineville and from 11 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Greenwood Memorial Park in Pineville.

Pallbearers will be David Lawrence, DuVal Lawrence, Marc Ratzliff, Bill Craig, Reginald "Coonie" Laborde, Patrick Lemoine, Donald Calir, and Louis Robertson.



This is a picture of MaMa in her kitchen. She was always in the kitchen. This is where I learned to cook at the ripe old age of 3. I love the memory of that kitchen. That and the big ceiling fan over the bed and snow cones made with real snow.
