Some are claiming Christian had at least 3 kids including one named Jacob & possibly a 4th.
Also I thought he had a son Robert by Judith but nobody shows him...instead they show Sarah, Priscilla, Mary/Molley, Jane, Lucy & Betsy.
Per Anne B. Washburn (46926606): I agree that her son Robert’s biography is a little tricky. ;-) He seems to have been someone who couldn’t stay put. I have several yDNA matches from the Bedford Co. Burtons (brother Capt. William Burton of Albemarle’s descendants) but there are also some from a Jacob Burton who lived there and later migrated to TN. (as you noted). Assigning this Jacob to Robert & Christian was as close as I could come using geography, “friends, associates, neighbors” and the knowledge that they descended from John Burton of Longfield. I am curious about your mention of another son named Robert? I haven’t seen that previously. There was none by that name named as a legatee to his estate.
Robert Burton, h/o Judith LaForce, also did not die in 1768. He was a witness to the deed where his brother (my ancestor) bought the land in Orange Co., NC, deed proved 23 Mar 1769. He witnessed another deed in Pittsylvania Co., VA, in July, 1769. He signed off on daughter Judith marrying Spilsbe Coleman in Pittsylvania Co. in 1771. He was named executor of his mother’s 1774 Orange Co. will but apparently became ill around the same time so his son, Charles, administered her estate. Robert’s estate was inventoried in Sep. 1775 in Orange Co., NC, so he possibly died that summer.
