Buck Hardwick DU 29 Jun 1959

"Buck Hardwick, Former Resident of Lawrence County, Dies in Columbia"

Buck Hardwick, 77 year old builder and real estate dealer, died Sunday night in a Columbia rest home after an extended illness. Funeral services were to be in Columbia this (Monday) afternoon and burial in the Wayland Springs Cemetery in this county.

Mr. Hardwick was a native of Wayne County and a son of the late W. R. J. and Diana Butler Hardwick. He spent most of his life in Lawrence County.

He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Omar Davis; one grandchild, both of Columbia; one brother, J. M. Hardwick, this city; two half brothers, Dr. B. H. Hardwick, Wayland Springs and Commodore Hardwick, Stewart, Florida; five half-sisters, Mrs. Otis Forsythe, Mrs. Lois Davis, Mrs. Robert Stricklin and Mrs. Fount Hollis, all of California; Mrs. Van Hollis, St. Joseph.

Buck Hardwick was the son of William Richard "R. J." Hardwick and his first wife, Diannah Dulcina Butler. Buck was the maternal grandson of Columbus Joshua Butler and Anne Bennett.

Buck married Bertie M. Pearce/Pierce 30 Jun 1904 in Lawrence Co., TN. Bertie died in 1923.
