Chester was born in Tyro, Montgomery, Kansas, to Henry F. and Nancy J. Brown Davidson. He married Eula Brashear on March 15, 1928. They lived for many years in the St. Louis area where Chet owned a barber shop. Eula died in 1984. At the time of his death, Chet was residing at a Florissant health-care center. Also preceding him were his daughter, Jayne Arrow; his son, Jerry; three sisters; and four brothers. He was survived by six grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
