Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 6-9 p.m. at the Fox-McLellan Funeral Home. Mr. Burke passed away at his home on Tuesday (Aug 11, 2009).
Surviving is his wife Margarita; three sons, Timothy Burke Jr. and his wife Debbie of Ogdensburg, Thomas Burke and his wife Thu Nguyen-Burke of Long Beach, CA, and Terry Burke and his wife Karen of Fort Covington; six daughters, Gloria Thompson of Canton, Linda Martino and her husband Bill of Long Island, Margarita "Peggy" Silver and her husband Larry of Dallas, TX, Patricia Devlin and her husband James of Orlando, FL, Nancy Russick and her husband Scott of Hilltop, NJ and Kathleen Burke-Fortney and her husband Tom of Lometa, CA; and nineteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
A son, James Burke; and a daughter, Villia Burke predeceased him.
Mr. Burke was born on January 2, 1926 in Ogdensburg, a son of late Timothy J. and Ruth (Saunders) Burke. He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy and married Margarita Gloria on November 11, 1946 at St. Mary's Cathedral. He enlisted in the US Navy during WWII and served in the Pacific Theater. He worked as a Merchant Marine that sailed on the St. Lawrence Seaway and Great Lakes for 30 years.
Memorial contributions can be made in his name to St. Mary's Cathedral Parish.
