Fred Kobernik was born in Konigstreu, Posen, Germany (now Poland) on April 11, 1898. He came to Yakima, WA in 1911 with his mother. His brother Caesar Kobernik was already living here. He began working for Barnes Grain & Feed in 1919, eventually buying out the business and building a mill at 206 West Walnut. He renamed it Kobernik Milling Co. He worked in the feed business for 70 years until his retirement in 1989.
