Mrs. Fred Abbott, 74, died at the Manor last Sunday, Jan 27, after being in failing health for some time. Her funeral Tuesday was conducted by the Rev. Martin Barker at the Clark chapel. Burial was in the King City cemetery. Mrs. Abbott's maiden name was Geneva Elizabeth Ott, a daughter of William and Emma Ott. On June 1, 1921, she was married to Fred Abbott and they were parents of one son Verlin Abbott of Baldwin, Mo.
Mrs. Abbott was born in Union Star and was a graduate of Northwest Missouri State University and taught school in Andrew County for more than 25 years. She was a member of the Baptist Women, a life member of the PTA, the Missouri State Teachers Association, the National Education Association, and the Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors are the husband of the home, the son, already mentioned; one brother, the Rev Harold Ott of King City; one sister, Mrs. Everett Bryant of Camdenton; the daughter-in-law and six grandchildren.
