FROSTBURG — Dawn Marie "Vickie" VanPelt Allen, 43, of Frostburg, formerly of Rawlings, passed away Friday, Oct. 2, 2009, at her home.

Born Aug. 18, 1966, in Keyser, W.Va., she was the daughter of Harold VanPelt Sr. and Alma (O'Haver) VanPelt, Rawlings. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Emory and Nellie (Crossland) Freeland; maternal grandparents, Lee O'Haver Sr. and Laura (Crabtree) O'Haver; and nephew, Buddy VanPelt.

Vickie was a former manager of Western Sizzlin, Hickory, N.C., and Casual Pines as a caterer in Milton, N.C. She was a 1984 graduate of Bruce High School.

She enjoyed spending time on her parent's farm, spending time with her family, and dearly loved her children.

Surviving in addition to her parents are two sons, Derek Spencer Allen and Greg Von Allen, both of Milton, N.C.; former husband, Greg Allen, of Milton; three brothers, Herbie VanPelt and wife Christa, Hickory VanPelt and wife Jennifer, of Rawlings and Grant VanPelt, of Cumberland; two sisters, Carolyn VanPelt and Tracey Keister and husband Darrell, of Rawlings; half brothers, Harold VanPelt Jr. and wife Faye, of Rawlings, Dennis VanPelt and wife Roxann, of Rawlings; half sisters, Dorothy Berends, of Reading, Pa., Patricia Harris, and Brenda Morehead and husband Terry, of Rawlings; Dawn's dearest friend and companion, Jack Hudson, of Eckhart; sister-in-law, Diane Thompson and husband Mark; mother-in-law, Shirley; father-in-law, Spencer, all of Virginia and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown, scarpellifuneralhomes.com on Monday from 5 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Jack Lease officiating.

Interment will be in Dawson Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Roger Haggerty, Kevin Williams, Ryan Liller, Jeff Miller and Darrell Keister
